Question 13: What is the state's role in promoting affordable housing? Share a specific proposal in this area.
The state should play a constant role to guarantee affordable
housing to everyone.
Here are some examples of how we can fight our current affordable
housing crisis:
- The attorney general can fight red-lining and discrimination by
banks.
- The Metropolitan Council and the State Legislature can pass
legislation.
- Inclusionary zoning (mixed income housing incentives).
- Restoration programs and construction rather than destruction.
Housing credits for those in the greatest need.
