Minnesota E-Democracy

Ken Pentel      Closing Statement

The Green Party stands on four pillars: Grassroots Democracy,
Social Justice, Non-Violence and Ecological Wisdom. I believe the
Green Party Platform offers a practical vision for sustainability well
into the next century and beyond. And I hope that we can offer a
balanced view on how we can live with our natural environment, our
water, our air, our soil and habitat; our source of sustenance. And
then we can also offer stability in our social condition: food,
shelter, clothing, health care, transportation, wages and education.
These two in balance, healthy and bountiful, will offer a vision of
sustainability that the Green Party offers here in Minnesota, and
throughout the USA as a growing party.

I have lived in Minnesota all my life. I have knocked on doors
for eleven years and talked to thousands and thousands of people.
People want rational, practical policies that offer us efficient ways
of living that do not deteriorate our condition and the health of our
condition. And we're at a point in time on this planet where we have
to make critical choices that will shape the way we have practiced the
democratic processes necessary to offer up better solutions, offer
more voices to the citizenry, offer better ideas. Right now we see the
consolidation of raw materials, not only in Minnesota, but throughout
the world, and our access as a general public and citizenry is
limited. We must be able to make better choices for now and well into
the future. And I believe I have that to offer. The existing, dominant
parties are not offering us these choices.

Think about what you are doing when you walk into that voting
booth, you are practicing the core element to our free democracy. Are
you practicing your freedom if you vote out of fear "of the other guy"
Vote for what you believe in rather than out of fear and help us make
the Green Party a major party in Minnesota (with 5% of the vote)
ensuring more choices for the future, restoring honesty to our
citizen democracy and sending a message to the dominant two parties
that we will not allow our votes to be held ransom out of a lack of
better choices.
