Norm Coleman      Response 5

Question 5: Please describe the one issue that is the single most important reason you chose to run for office?

I am running for governor because I believe I can help
government play a positive role in the lives of Minnesota
families, and have the experience and vision to lead our
state into the next century. I have a clear vision for
our state: lower, fairer taxes, world-class public
schools and educational choice, and safer streets.
Working together, there is no limit to what we can
achieve.

In this election Minnesota has a clear choice: continue
down the fiscally conservative path paved by Governor
Carlson, or head down a dangerous route strewn with
spending promises - which will inevitably lead to higher
taxes. I will keep our state on the Carlson path by
carefully watching our state's bottom line, retaining our
AAA bond rating and enacting permanent, significant tax
cuts.

Essentially, government can either protect our freedoms
or impose upon them. The Coleman/Olson administration
will protect your freedoms by keeping government out of
your life and lowering your tax burden.
