Minnesota E-Democracy

Welcome to the E-Debate 98 Media Panel, Week 2

Members of four local media organizations have agreed to participate in the second week of this forum, in which each will read and analyze the substance, tone and importance of the ongoing E-Democracy 98 gubernatorial debate.

Members of tonight's panel include:

David Brauer, writer, commentator, former KSTP-AM host

Kathryn Herzog, KFAI-FM Fresh Air Radio reporter

Mike Mulcahy, KTCA Capitol correspondent

A mesage from D.J. Tice of the Pioneer Press was received too late to post tonight. It can be added to this page at a later time. Another scheduled panelist, Scott Roger of the U of M's Minnesota Daily, has dropped out of the event.

The posts that follow conclude the formal portion of the E-debate event. We thank all of you who have followed the debate through e-mail, those of you who have forwarded the posts to your friends and colleagues, and those of you have watched the proceedings on our Web site, http://www.e-democracy.org/1998.

We also thank the candidates and their campaign staffers who have put so much time and effort into making E-Debate 98 a success.

For those who wish to linger in the virtual audience of the event, the E-Debate team has invited all of the candidates to sign up to MN-FORUM-DISCUSS, to take informal questions from the virtual audience of the event. Those who wish to take part in this question-and-answer period, in which direct communication with the candidates is encouraged, may do so by subscribing to MN-FORUM-DISCUSS. Here's how:

Send an e-mail message to:

mn-forum-discuss@mr.net

While leaving the subject line blank, write or cut-and-paste the following message into the text area of the message box:

subscribe mn-forum-discuss

Then send the message off.

Those of you who have already signed on to MN-FORUM DISCUSS, obviously, are already in the audience and need do no more to participate.

This part of the forum will continue until March 3. On that day, E-Debate 98's precaucus event will officially close.

Thanks again to all those who helped pave the way for this groundbreaking event.

Yours,

Kevin Featherly
