Electronic Democracy Resources on the Internet

This section will contain a links to the most important electronic democracy resources on the Internet. While we have our "citizen-based" flavor, there are other initiatives that may take a different approach. While the Electronic Democracy Library will be focused on the citizen-based approach, this section will cover a variety of resources.

For now we offer you:
• The World-Wide E-Democracy Projects Page from September, 1995.
• Democracy in Action - A series of postings and reaction on the "initiatives in citizen participation, improving democracy, electronic aids to public debate and decision-making etc.".
• The Effects of Community Networks on Political Participation - A Resource Guide - an annotated list of both on-line and print resources on the subjects of community networks and how they can be used to increase political participation in the community. It provides researchers with a variety of background reading on the subjects, especially scholarly papers and articles.
• The G7 Government Online Online Support for Democracy sub-project which highlights what governments are doing to contribute to broader electronic democracy.
• Project Vote Smart's Links Where You Can Participate in the U.S. including a link to Forum One with reviews on WWW-based forums, many of them sponsored by commercial or media organizations.
• Election Notes from Klipsan Press offer up-to-date news items and links on elections around the world. Their International Elections Calendar is very comprehensive.
• Parliamentary elections around the world offers details on elections and related sites. This database contains basic political data including the official name of the country, head of state, head of government, parties supporting the government, results of the last parliamentary elections from around the world.
